Abstract
This study aims to design a drinking water supply system (SPAM) in Kebonsari District, Madiun Regency, using two alternative systems, namely a pumping system and a combined system. The planning period considered in this study is 20 years. Furthermore, the selection of the best alternative was carried out using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to determine which system provides more continuous service. Based on the results, the required discharge for a 20-year service period, with a service coverage of 50% of the total population (equivalent to 7 villages within one district), is 109.32 L/s. Overall, the hydraulic profile calculations and simulations using EPANET 2.2 have shown results that comply with the design criteria. The simulation results indicate that the system meets the planning standards, where the residual pressure in the network remains above 10 m and the flow velocity ranges between 0.3–1 m/s. This velocity range is considered optimal as it prevents sedimentation and clogging in the pipeline while minimizing energy losses that could potentially damage the pipes. Of the two alternative systems planned using the AHP assessment method, the pump system is considered superior to the combined system.
