Abstract
This study aims to determine and analyze the influence of work motivation, work-life balance, and flexibility on the performance of Generation Z freelancers in Surabaya among students of FISIBPOL UPN “Veteran” East Java. This study used an associative research design with a quantitative method. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total sample of 154 respondents consisting of active students of FISIBPOL UPN “Veteran” East Java who had experience working as freelancers. Data were collected through questionnaires and processed using SPSS version 30 software. The data analysis technique used was multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the study showed that work motivation, work-life balance, and flexibility simultaneously had a positive and significant effect on the performance of Generation Z freelancers in Surabaya. Partially, work motivation had a positive and significant effect on freelancer performance. Work-life balance also had a positive and significant effect on freelancer performance. Meanwhile, flexibility had a positive and significant effect on freelancer performance. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 67.8% indicated that the variation in freelancer performance could be explained by these three variables, while the remaining 32.2% was explained by other factors outside this study. The implication of this study is that improving work motivation, maintaining a balance between work and personal life, and increasing work flexibility need to become major priorities in improving the performance of Generation Z freelancers.
