Abstract
This study analyzes the differences in news framing of the controversial broadcast of Trans7's Xpose Uncensored program against the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School on October 13, 2025, in the online media CNN Indonesia and NU Online. This study uses descriptive qualitative with a constructivist paradigm. This study applies Robert N. Entman's framing analysis model which includes four main elements that is problem identification, cause diagnosis, moral judgment, and solution recommendations. In this study, it is known that CNN Indonesia media frames the issue procedurally, emphasizing Trans7's apology, audience, and institutional responsibility for production negligence. And defines the problem as an inconvenience resolved through internal dialogue. Meanwhile, NU Online media frames criticism as moral insult to Kiai KH Anwar Manshur and a threat to harmony among Muslims, demanding sanctions from the Press Council, KPI, a boycott of #BOIKOTTRANS7, and legal action. This difference is influenced by the political identity and political economy of the media which shape the construction of social reality through 17 news items, namely 7 CNN Indonesia news items, and 10 NU Online news items. The findings of this study explain that framing reflects institutional ideology, thus influencing public perception of sensitive religious issues.
