Abstract

Globalization as a process of international integration has a significant impact on the dynamics of national culture. On one hand, this progress opens up opportunities for the spread of Indonesian culture to the global level. The younger generation has an important role in facing this challenge by developing the ability to live alongside differences and appreciate cultural diversity. Urban culture, especially that originating from the African American community, has inspired many Indonesian youths to create unique works of art. Urban culture, especially that originating from the African American community, has inspired many Indonesian youths to create unique works of art. In Surabaya, as a metropolitan city with a large student population, interest in dance is increasing. The hip hop dance community is growing rapidly with many events and competitions held regularly. However, adequate training facilities are still unavailable in Surabaya. An ideal practice space is essential to support the creativity and skills of the dancers. The Hip Hop International Center in Surabaya is a facility that supports the hip hop community, especially the dancers. This center is expected to become a platform for the younger generation to express their creativity and ideas on an international scale. The design method adopted is the behavioral architecture approach, which focuses on creating spaces that are accessible and functional. The building design will include spacious and flexible practice rooms, adequate performance areas, and supporting facilities such as changing rooms and rest areas. The design of the Hip Hop International Center in Surabaya as a facility for the hip hop community is expected to provide significant support for the younger generation in expressing their creativity, with a design that prioritizes accessibility and functionality, thereby enhancing the dancers' abilities in facing the increasingly complex challenges of globalization.
