Abstract
This study examines the failure to provide compensation to audience members as consumers due to the unilateral cancellation of the 2022 Fosfen Music Festival. The organizers promised to refund funds within 90 working days, but by 2025, this obligation had not been fulfilled. This indicates a breach of contract or broken promise by the organizers, resulting in the neglect of consumer rights. The purpose of this study is to analyze the reasons for the failure to provide compensation and the remedies consumers can take. The research method used was an empirical juridical approach using a conflict approach. Data were obtained through interviews, questionnaires, observations, and literature review. The results explain that the main obstacle in the compensation process was the organizers' inadequate financial condition due to budget miscalculations. Furthermore, a lack of transparency and poor communication from the organizers further exacerbated the situation and led to audience disappointment. Although legal channels such as mediation through the Consumer Dispute Resolution Agency (BPSK) or civil lawsuits in court are available, many audience members did not pursue these avenues. One contributing factor is a lack of understanding of legal procedures. This explains that the weak position of consumers and the lack of good faith on the part of organizers are the primary causes of audiences' rights to compensation not being fulfilled.
