Abstract
Curly chili is one of the strategic horticultural commodities that has high demand, but often faces problems of price fluctuations and distribution inequality. These problems generally occur due to an unbalanced market structure, the length of the marketing chain, and the weak bargaining position of farmers. This study aims to analyze the structure, behavior, and performance of curly chili marketing in Payakumbuh Timur District, as well as to determine the bargaining position of farmers and the market share of marketing institutions involved. The approach used is Structure-Conduct-Performance (SCP) with quantitative descriptive method. Data were collected through interviews with farmers, collectors, wholesalers, and retailers using snowball sampling technique. The results showed that the market structure is oligopsony, characterized by a market concentration (CR4) of 83.24% and a Minimum Efficiency Scale (MES) value of 60.95%. Market behavior shows that farmers have no control over pricing. In terms of performance, marketing channel II is more efficient because it provides a lower marketing margin and a higher farmer's share (81.03%). The Lerner Index of 0.93 also indicates that farmers have a fairly strong bargaining position in the marketing system, although they are still dependent on certain marketing institutions. This research is expected to be an input for farmers and stakeholders to improve the marketing system.
