Abstract
The Gresik Cement Factory was inaugurated in Gresik by the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Ir. Soekarno, on August 7, 1957. PT Semen Gresik has factories located in Gresik Regency, Tuban City, and Rembang City. However, currently, the factory in Gresik is no longer fully operated and only consists of a finish mill. The Gresik Rembang Cement Factory only started operating in July 2018 with a capacity of 3 million tons/year. This location is 26 km from Rembang City, 51 km from Rembang Port, 97 km from Tuban Pelsus Port, 147 km from Semarang City, and 247 km from Surabaya City. The Finish Mill Unit at PT Semen Gresik is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of finish mill machine operations. In this unit, a series of processes are carried out including grinding, drying, separating, and transporting. The final grinding process and mixing of semi-finished materials, in the form of clinker, with various additional materials, such as gypsum, trass, fly ash, and limestone. The finish mill is used for grinding and mixing clinker and gypsum to obtain a milled product with the desired fineness, known as cement. The use of CNG as a replacement for hot gas from the kiln at PT Semen Gresik significantly contributes to reducing energy consumption in cement production. The exit temperature also affects the amount of CNG required. Calculations show that reducing the exit temperature by 20°C will save Rp 897,172,209 in CNG expenses.
