Abstract
East Java is one of the provinces in Indonesia and is home to one of the country’s largest cities, with a population of 3,009,286 in 2023. This city, known as a metropolitan area, is Surabaya, the economic center of East Java. Rapid population growth in Surabaya, driven by urbanization, has led to an increasing use of motor vehicles for both personal and commercial needs. Consequently, traffic congestion frequently occurs on several road segments during peak hours. The excessive use of motor vehicles also contributes to air pollution, with CO₂ emissions playing a significant role in environmental changes. This study aims to analyze the relationship between traffic density, air temperature, air pressure, and CO₂ emissions, as well as to map the results along Kenjeran Street, Dr. Ir. H. Soekarno Street, Raya Kertajaya Indah Street, Arief Rahman Hakim Street, and Raya Kedung Baruk Street. Data were obtained through field observations involving direct monitoring and recording, then processed using Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS. The results show that the highest degree of saturation (DS) was found on Dr. Ir. H. Soekarno Street (Segment VI) with a value of 1.32046. The strongest correlation among the variables was observed between traffic volume and CO₂ emissions, with an R² value of 0.8903, categorized as very strong (0.80–1.00). The highest CO₂ emission level, 763 ppm, was recorded on Segment I of Arief Rahman Hakim Street. Multiple linear regression analysis indicated the highest R² value for temperature as the dependent variable (Y), at 0.441 with a negative coefficient. The processed data were further used for map digitization, producing thematic maps including research location, traffic volume, temperature, air pressure, and CO₂ emissions. Keywords: Traffic Congestion, Temperature, Air Pressure, CO₂ Gas Emissions, Mapping, Geographic Information System (GIS)
