Abstract

A potassium carbonate plant utilizing potassium hydroxide and carbon dioxide through a carbonation process, with a production capacity of 60,000 tons per year, is planned to be established in the Java Integrated Industrial and Ports Estate (JIIPE), Gresik, East Java. This potassium carbonate plant will operate continuously for 24 hours a day with 330 working days per year and will employ 188 workers. The purpose of the potassium carbonate plant is to meet industrial demand for potassium carbonate, which is widely used in various industries such as petrochemicals, gas, fertilizers, specialty chemicals like dyes or preservatives, glass, food, and others. The raw materials used in the production of potassium carbonate are potassium hydroxide, which will be sourced from PT. Aneka Kimia Inti in Surabaya, and carbon dioxide, which will be obtained from PT. Samator in Gresik, East Java.
