Abstract

Industrial competition in the construction materials sector requires companies to continuously improve product quality and production process efficiency. PT Duta Beton Mandiri is facing issues related to low and inconsistent compressive strength of paving blocks that do not comply with SNI quality standards. This study aims to optimize paving block production parameters using the Taguchi method with a Larger-The-Better characteristic. Collected data included the cement-sand ratio, fly ash content, and aggregate size. Experimental results indicated that the optimal parameter combination consisted of a 3:5 cementsand ratio, 3% fly ash content, and 5–10 mm aggregate size. The application of the Taguchi method successfully increased the paving block compressive strength from an average of 39.98 MPa to 42.16 MPa, exceeding the established quality standards. Furthermore, product quality variability was minimized, resulting in more stable performance. This research demonstrates that the Taguchi experimental design is effective in improving paving block quality and can serve as a reference for continuous quality control at PT Duta Beton Mandiri.
