Abstract

The increasingly intense competition in the service industry demands the quality of human resources (HR) as the main asset of the organization. Optimal employee performance is key to maintaining competitiveness, especially in the service sector which requires speed, accuracy, and quality of service. PT Berlian Jasa Terminal Indonesia, through its Terminal Operations Division, faces challenges in the form of high workloads that can stimulate resilience while also causing burnout, as well as suboptimal interpersonal communication. This study aims to analyze the impact of workload, burnout, and interpersonal communication on employee performance. The method used is quantitative with Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis. The population in this study consists of all employees in the operations control unit selected using a saturated sampling technique, totaling 55 employees, via a 1-5 Likert scale questionnaire. The research results indicate that: (1) workload has a negative and significant effect on employee performance; (2) burnout has a negative and significant effect on employee performance; (3) interpersonal communication has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. The implication is that employee performance can be improved through proportional workload management, preventing burnout, and enhancing interpersonal communication to maintain motivation, coordination, and service quality.
