Abstract

This research analyzes how Indonesia's gastro diplomacy strategy through the Indonesia Spice Up the World program in Mexico in 2021-2022. Gastro diplomacy is a diplomacy strategy that uses food and culinary culture as a tool to strengthen relations between countries. This research uses a qualitative method, with data collection techniques from various sources, including media reports, academic articles, and official documents related to the Indonesia Spice Up the World program. The data obtained was then analyzed to identify the impact and effectiveness of the program in improving Indonesia's positive image in Mexico. The results showed that the Indonesia Spice Up the World program succeeded in creating significant awareness of Indonesian culinary culture in Mexico. Through various activities such as food festivals, cooking demonstrations, and collaborations with renowned restaurants, the program successfully showcased the richness and uniqueness of Indonesian cuisine to the Mexican public. Furthermore, the program strengthened cultural ties between Indonesia and Mexico through culinary exchange, tourism promotion, and business cooperation in the culinary field. The findings of this study can serve as a foundation for the development of more effective gastrodiplomacy programs in the future.
