Abstract

Habib Zaenal Muhtarom. 20024010150. 2025. “Analysis of Household Food Security of Farmers in Tanah Merah Laok Village, Bangkalan Regency.” Supervised by Dr. Ida Syamsu Roidah, SP., MMA and Wiwit Rahayu, S.P., M.P. Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” East Java. Food security plays an important role in maintaining the adequacy of food in a country and region. Food security, especially in marginal areas, becomes a critical issue because in marginal lands, agricultural productivity decreases compared to other areas. This study aims to determine the proportion of food consumption expenditure to total expenditure, the level of energy consumption, and the food security status based on indicators of food expenditure proportion and energy consumption adequacy.The basic method used in this study is a descriptive method. The location determination method is purposive, specifically in Tanah Merah Laok Village, Bangkalan Regency, with farmers as the research subjects. The types and sources of data used consist of primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, record-keeping, and 24-hour recall. The data analysis used includes the analysis of the proportion of food consumption expenditure to total household expenditure, the analysis of household energy consumption levels, the analysis of household food security, and the analysis of household survival strategies.The results of this study show that the average proportion of household food expenditure is 53.44%, which falls into the low expenditure share category. The community still faces inadequacies in fulfilling their energy needs, as respondents categorized as having good and moderate energy consumption are fewer (14 respondents) compared to those categorized as poor and deficient (21 respondents). The food security status in Tanah Merah Laok Village shows that the largest group is categorized as having inadequate food security, with 15 households (42.86%). Households with food insecurity (vulnerable) number 11 (31.43%). Households with food security (adequate) number 5 (14.29%). The last category is food insecurity, with households accounting for 11.43%. Keywords: Farming Households, Food Security
