Abstract

Employees are an important aspect of organizational sustainability which is influenced by various factors. Human resource management (HR) is needed to ensure the creation of a good work environment, especially in the distribution of workloads, the implementation of work balance, and the fulfillment of job satisfaction to achieve optimal performance. Good management can be an effort to achieve organizational goals in a sustainable manner. So this study aims to determine the effect of work overload and work life balance on employee performance through job satisfaction. This study uses a quantitative approach with non-probability sampling, namely saturated sampling, where all members of the population are used as a research sample of 40 employees of the Operational Fund of Bank Jatim KC Dr. Soetomo Surabaya. The data collection technique through google form media which is disseminated online to employees in the form of questionnaire statements and the use of primary data is obtained from the company's internal. Secondary data came from previous research journals, surveys of related institutions, and published supporting data. Data analysis and hypothesis testing using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method with the Partial Least Square analysis tool (SmartPLS 3.0). This study proves that work overload does not contribute to an increase or decrease in employee performance and contributes to increased job satisfaction. Work-life balance contributes to improved employee performance and job satisfaction. And job satisfaction can mediate the influence of work overload and work-life balance on employee performance. This means that employees are accustomed to excess tasks accompanied by the implementation of a good work balance and high satisfaction fulfillment to support their performance as part of the organization's sustainability.
