Abstract

This study has four variables, namely Work Life Balance (X1), work stress (X2), burnout (Z) as a mediating variable, and job satisfaction (Y). Job satisfaction is an important aspect that can influence employee enthusiasm and productivity. When employees are satisfied with their work, they tend to be more enthusiastic in carrying out their tasks. Job satisfaction can be influenced by Work Life Balance and the level of work stress experienced. In this regard, burnout becomes an intermediary factor that illustrates how much psychological burden an employee feels while working. The lower the level of burnout, the higher the likelihood of someone feeling satisfied with their work. This study aims to determine how Work Life Balance and work stress influence job satisfaction through the mediating role of burnout among employees of the Operations Directorate of PDAM Surya Sembada, Surabaya. This study uses a quantitative method with a sample of 70 respondents. The sample was determined using the Slovin formula. Data were analyzed using the Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) method. The results show that Work Life Balance has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, while work stress has a negative and significant effect on job satisfaction. Additionally, Work Life Balance also affects job satisfaction through the mediation of burnout, and work stress affects job satisfaction through the mediation of burnout. Keywords: Work Life Balance, Work Stress, Job Satisfaction, Burnout, SEM PLS
