Abstract
This research discusses the political satire discourse featured in the content of @politikinaja on TikTok. The emergence of social media has created new spaces for citizens to exercise freedom of expression, particularly in voicing criticism toward political elites. Political satire content on the TikTok account @politikinaja serves as a novel strategy for citizens to respond to ongoing political issues. This research employs a qualitative approach with the aim of understanding and describing the political satire discourse present in the @politikinaja TikTok account. The study utilizes Rodney H. Jones’s framework for digital discourse analysis, which is well-suited for examining the multimodal and dynamic nature of digital texts and interactions in contemporary media environments. Data collection methods include document study, non-participant observation, and literature review of political satire content on @politikinaja’s TikTok account. Rodney H. Jones’s digital discourse analysis comprises four key elements: text, context, action & interaction, and ideology & powerThe findings of this study reveal that political satire content on @politikinaja functions as a platform for citizens to deliver political messages and criticism toward political elites. The use of humor, parody, and dramatization in political satire represents an innovative strategy to communicate political messages in a lighter and more accessible manner. Furthermore, political satire content on social media can be seen as a form of civic resistance, creatively packaged in the digital era, allowing citizens to express dissent without resorting to direct or confrontational attacks.
