Abstract
Interpersonal communication is the main communication that can describe participants' interdependence on each other. The object of this study was the participants of the Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka.. This study used a descriptive quantitative method with a population of 16,250 students participating in the 2024 Student Exchange program. The variables in this study were interpersonal communication with five dimensions, namely openness, empathy, support, positive attitude and equality. The questionnaire was distributed to 100 respondents using a Likert scale. The objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of interpersonal communication in Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka participants. The results showed that the level of effectiveness of interpersonal communication in Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka participants was in the range of 3.32 - 4.00 with a very high level category. This is evidence that interpersonal communication in Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka participants is going well and effectively with other friends even though there are cultural differences.
