Abstract

Diverse information of making purchases on online marketplaces, leads generation z to challenges when faced with purchasing decisions. Tokopedia is one of the online marketplaces of choice for generation z when making purchases online. The features in Tokopedia can make it easier for its users to select information, such as product image displays and reviews. The main source of information for generation z when shopping on Tokopedia is the review feature. The information contained in the reviews is a benchmark for generation z in searching for information and choosing a trusted store. On the other hand, there are factors such as culture, social, personal, and psychological that influence generation z when shopping online. Information in reviews and image displays can be manipulated by shop owners which can make generation z dissatisfied when shopping on online marketplaces. This dissatisfaction can cause generation z to lose trust in both the brand and the store that has been previously selected when shopping online. Increasing media literacy, rechecking facts, and the role of digital platforms in detecting and reducing the spread of inappropriate information can be a solution for generation z when shopping online. Keywords: Missinformation, consumer behaviour, tokopedia, product image, review, generation z, online shopping phenomena
