Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of the role of proliferation netnography in the use of Siouxsie And The Banshees' Happy House Song on the Tiktok Platform. This type of research uses qualitative research with a netnographic approach to observe the proliferation (spread, growth) of the Happy House song on TikTok and researchers also observe netizen activity in the comments column. The data collection technique uses a participant-observation approach, documentation and interviews. The analysis technique used is data reduction analysis technique, data presentation, conclusion drawing. The results showed that social media, especially TikTok, played a significant role in introducing and popularising songs through digital media. The song ‘Happy House’ by Siouxsie and the Banshees, for example, experienced increased visibility on TikTok, even though the content often used versions taken from The Weeknd's music, particularly the song ‘House of Balloons/ Glass Table Girls,’ which contains samples from ‘Happy House’. TikTok users not only share personal experiences of family violence, but also comment on #happyhouse videos, showing how lyrics from the song are used and understood. Content on TikTok that uses this music ranges from satirical videos that criticise family disharmony, to videos that serve as an escape from personal problems, often with comedic elements or situations that reflect family disharmony. Keywords: TikTok, Proliferation, Happy House, Netnography, Social Media
