Abstract
ABSTRACT This study aims to identify and analyze communication barriers between adolescents involved in brawls and their parents in the context of developing family relationships in Surabaya. This study uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interview methods and participant observation of adolescents involved in brawls and their parents. The results showed that significant communication barriers include lack of trust, differences in views and values between generations, and lack of effective communication skills on the part of both adolescents and parents. Environmental factors, such as peer pressure and social media, also exacerbate these communication problems. These findings indicate the need for comprehensive interventions through communication education and training for families as well as support from the government and related institutions to create a conducive environment for the development of healthy family relationships.
