Abstract
This research discusses how the acceptance and views of generation Z towards political messages in the movie 'Dirty Vote'. Starting from the beginning of its release, this movie immediately reaped a variety of views from the public. The movie, which discusses election fraud and the undermining of democracy in Indonesia, has drawn pros and cons regarding the point of view that is trying to be conveyed in the content of the film. 'Dirty Vote' received a pro response because it can provide informative and educative messages about the political conditions in Indonesia. The contra point of view towards this film views the film 'Dirty Vote' as a form of political propaganda to reduce the electability of one of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates who participated in the 2024 elections because it is considered not to provide balanced information and misinterpret the policies of the government that was in power at that time and associate it with the vision and mission of one of the candidates, and indirectly provide a message to be wise in choosing by paying attention to mistakes and fraud committed by each party depicted in the film. This research uses a qualitative method with a constructivist paradigm to explain the phenomena experienced by the object of research by describing it in the form of words. This research uses Stuart Hall's reception analysis to interpret the informants' acceptance which is divided into three categories; 1) Dominant hegemony position, which accepts the entire content of political messages in the film, 2) Negotiation position, which partially accepts the content of political messages in the movie, 3) The opposition position rejects all political messages contained in the movie.
