Abstract

Modern politics requires a political image that can be built through media, which can help in disseminating information and shaping a political image for anyone competing in the political arena. One way to identify the media used for creating a political image is by analyzing the level of reality and the portrayal of an individual's identity within the content. To this end, the researcher employs the three levels in John Fiske's television codes theory (reality level, representation level, ideology level) as an analytical framework, and refers to the five types of images used by politicians according to Jefkins (mirror image, current image, wish image, corporate image, and multiple image). Based on the research findings, there is a depiction of political images through gestures, appearances, and environments associated with each presidential and vice-presidential candidate, as shown in the form of parody videos.
