Abstract
ABSTRACT. Many political advertisements appear in conventional media and online media. One of the advertisements that attracted the public's attention was the political advertisement "Okay Gas 2," which was widely discussed by the Indonesian people during the 2024 presidential election campaign. According to Stuart Hall, this research is a descriptive qualitative study using the reception analysis method. The subject of this research is Generation Z. Data collection was carried out using in- depth interviews, documentation, and literature studies. The research results show that Generation Z's acceptance of the political promise message in the "Okay Gas 2" advertisement is divided into two positions: the dominant-hegemonic and the negotiated reading positions. Generation Z interprets political promises in political advertisements, including the vision, mission, identity, and symbols that are clearly conveyed in the advertisement. The "Okay Gas 2" advertisement conveys a message of political promise and displays entertainment in the form of jargon and music that is easy for the audience to remember and accept. Keywords: generation z, political ads, political promises
