Abstract

The Indonesian 2024 Presidential Election dominated by young generation voters, one of them is Gen-Z that tends to get the latest updates from social media. X as one of the most used social media contributes in forming of a Filter Bubble. Filter Bubble strengthens someone’s belief of the chosen candidate because the other candidate’s information access is limited. This research aims to determine the formation of Gen-Z’s political participation during the 2024 Presidential Election Campaign because of Filter Bubble phenomenon on X. The analyzed forms of political participation are voting, campaign, communal activity, lobbying, and protest. This research is a qualitative descriptive approach through interview. The subject of this research is Gen-Z that already have the right to vote and is actively using X during the 2024 Presidential Election Campaign. The result shows that the Filter Bubble on X encourages Gen-Z to implement three of five forms of politic participation. This research is related to Media Ecology Theory which connects the relationship between human and technology.
