Abstract
The United States is the main export destination for Indonesian processed cocoa products, but in recent years the export value has shown a significant decline. This condition shows the increasingly intense market competition in international trade. For this reason, Indonesian processed cocoa products must have competitiveness in order to survive and compete in the US market. In order to get a comprehensive picture of the export competitiveness of these products, it is necessary to conduct this study. The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of comparative and competitive competitiveness, as well as trade specialization of Indonesian processed cocoa products in the United States market in the period 2008 - 2022. The analysis methods in this study are Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), Export Product Dynamics (EPD), and Trade Specialization Index (ISP). The results of the RCA analysis show that Indonesian processed cocoa products in the form of cocoa paste (HS 1803), cocoa powder (HS 1804), and cocoa butter (HS 1805) have strong comparative competitiveness, while chocolate (HS 1806) does not have comparative competitiveness. Meanwhile, the EPD analysis results show that all Indonesian processed cocoa products have competitive competitiveness with a rising star market position. The ISP analysis results show that Indonesia specializes in being an exporter of cocoa paste, cocoa butter, and cocoa powder products to the US market, while in chocolate products, Indonesia specializes in being an importer from the US market.
