Abstract
PT Petrokimia Gresik is one of the most comprehensive fertilizer factories in Indonesia, originally named the “Surabaya Petrochemical Project.” The construction contract was signed on August 10, 1964, and came into effect on December 8, 1964. The project was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, HM. Soeharto, on July 10, 1972, which was then designated as the anniversary of PT Petrokimia Gresik. PT Petrokimia Gresik has been established since 1956 through the National Design Bureau (BPN) under the name "Surabaja Petrochemical Project." The origin of the name “Petrokimia” comes from Petroleum Chemical, which means chemicals derived from petroleum and gas. The Surabaya Petrochemical Project was formed based on MPRS Decree No. II of 1960, which was listed as a Priority Project in the National Comprehensive Planned Development Pattern Phase I (1961-1969) and reinforced by Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia No. 260 of 1960. PT Petrokimia Gresik currently occupies an area of more than 450 hectares in Gresik Regency, East Java. The total current production reaches 8.9 million tons per year, consisting of 5 million tons per year of fertilizer products and 3.9 million tons per year of non-fertilizer products. This subsidiary of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) is transforming into an Agroindustry Solutions company to support the achievement of the National Food Security program and the advancement of the agricultural sector.
