Abstract

Globalisation has a major influence on the global film industry. Globalisation has an impact on the process of expanding production factors and international markets, in order to create a more attractive film and increase competitiveness. Dune is a film adaptation of Frank Herbert's famous 1965 novel of the same name, directed by Denis Villenueve, which won a number of Oscar awards in 2022. Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures as a company that accommodates the production process of the film Dune can distribute the film through cinemas, DVD sales and also streaming services. This research will lead to the global value chain of the Dune film using the concept of Global Film Value Chain, this theory is used so that it is known how value is created and marketed in a global film value chain. With the concept of Global Film Value Chain, the process of creation, production, distribution and exhibition of the film Dune can be known. The descriptive-qualitative method is used by the author to explain the series of facts from the Global Film Value Chain of the film Dune. The use of the Global Film Value Chain concept increases the effectiveness and efficiency of the film production stage involving various actors, studios, and activities across national borders. Keywords: Globalisation, Dune, Global Film Value Chain
