Abstract
Metal material is one of the main materials that are widely used in building construction, transportation, and industry. Besides the many uses of metal materials, there are many things that affect changes in the condition of metal materials such as corrosion. One method for corrosion prevention is to use cathodic protection. This study aims to determine the effect of temperature on the performance of the sacrificial anode to control the corrosion rate of ASTM A36 metal using Al and Zn sacrificial anodes, determine the appropriate sacrificial anode in controlling the corrosion rate of ASTM A36 metal in a 3.5% NaCl environment. The research procedure was carried out by taking the anode type variables such as: Al and Zn, with the variables being the temperature of the NaCl solution 3.5%: 30℃; 40℃; 50℃; 60℃; 70℃. Data processing is carried out using the dynamic potentio method. The result of the best sacrificial anode in controlling the corrosion rate of ASTM A36 steel in 3.5% NaCl environment is Aluminum. With the average value of the efficiency of reducing the corrosion rate using aluminum sacrificial anode is 99.99754%, while zinc sacrificial canode is 99.99288%.
