Abstract
Media is a constructor of reality. The news conveyed by the mass media is not a complete incident, but an event that has been constructed through language into a reality. One of news that reaps pros and cons is the election of Nagita Slavina as PON XX 2021 Papua Icon. Many media reported about this, including the online media, Kompas.com and CNNIndonesia.com. This study aims to examine and analyze how Kompas.com and CNNIndonesia.com construct news on the election of Nagita Slavina as PON XX 2021 Papua Icon to the audience. This research uses qualitative method with framing analysis techniques according to Zhongdang Pan and Kosicki. The results showed that Kompas.com framed this news more to the point and tended to support the decision to select the existing PON icon due to socialization mission. Meanwhile, CNNIndonesia.com framed this news by including sources who are more varied and tended not to support the election of Nagita Slavina as the icon of the PON XX 2021 Papua.
