Abstract
The results of audience acceptance from five Audience informants in Surabaya in the Focus Group Discussion conducted on the acceptance of the issue of mental health disorders showed different acceptances based on the three positions of Stuart Hall's encoding and decoding theory, namely dominant-hegemonic, negotiated code, and oppositional code. Informants in a dominant position are influenced by the way of delivery that is easy to understand and the delivery of the right message. Meanwhile, the informant in the oppositional position was influenced by his lack of understanding about the experience that was conveyed by Rachel Niko.
