Abstract
Wayang has been recognized as an international culture that plays an important role in shaping the identity of the Indonesian nation. However, unfortunately there are still many puppet characters that are not widely known by the younger generation. The wayang comic once answered the strange phenomenon of wayang among urban youth at that time. Wayang comics played an important role in popularizing the Mahabharata and Ramayana figures across ages. However, wayang that elevates the character of the gods is almost not found. So, it is important to bring these characters up in the comics that are most popular in the new media era, namely webtoons. The aim is to attract youth's interest in wayang culture, by introducing the characters of the wayang gods and goddesses in an interesting way, through stories that are easily understood and liked by teenagers. In this design, data collection uses quantitative qualitative data collection methods as primary data and various literatures as secondary data. Qualitative method, namely by conducting interviews with wayang comic artist Mr. Is Yuniarto, puppeteer Mr. Bambang Dwi Sumanto, and target audience Nabila Paquita Latifatuz Zayyan. The quantitative method is by distributing questionnaires through Google Forms for 17-21 year olds, with a minimum number of 100 respondents. Technical data analysis using descriptive qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. From the results of data analysis, it was found that LINE Webtoon is the right platform because it has the largest reader base in Indonesia, most of whom are female readers. Thus, the character of this electronic comic is a teenage girl and the themes raised are fantasy and romance. The story will adapt freely the characters of the wayang gods as high school students who are the incarnations of the gods. So that it produces the keyword 'Gods in the modern world' With this design, it is expected to be able to deliver the characters of the gods in a webtoon format that is able to increase cultural interest in teenagers. Keywords - Electronic comics, wayang, gods, teenagers
