Abstract
Banyuwangi is one of the cities in East Java known for its abundant natural assets and the uniqueness of its traditional cultures, which the locals are still continually conserving today. Due to Its distinctive characteristic, Many local and international tourists are keen on visiting, as proved by the increasing number of tourists in Banyuwangi from 2015 to 2019, according to the data provided by Dinas Pariwisata Kabupaten Banyuwangi in 2020. Acknowledging the substantial local tourism potential, The local government decided to stipulate local culture-based tourism as a primary development program. However, Nowadays, The tourism facilities in Banyuwangi have never been adequate to satisfy the requirements. Hence, The Osing Museum and Festival Center is designed to comply with the need for an Edu-recreative cultural facility to maximize the primary program of local culture-based tourism in Banyuwangi. The main facilities in The Osing Museum and Festival Center are a museum obtaining the historical information of Osing tribe's origin and a festival center to perform Banyuwangi Festival (B-Fest). The design uses the Symbiosis Architecture approach and Borrowing Transformation method by integrating local aspects through local cultural elements and the history of Osing tribe with the modern architecture characteristics as the global aspects. Therefore, The Osing Museum and Festival Center is expected to be the new icon and a medium to promote local cultures, as well as public learning facility regarding Osing tribe and Its hereditary cultures.
