Abstract

Most people have done impression management in their daily life, one of which is done through Instagram social media. As the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi must show himself to be the best and be able to meet the expectations of the public, especially in the 100 days of government which is the most appropriate time to show his best side in public. This study aims to find out how Impression Management was built by Eri Cahyadi during the first 100 days as Mayor of Surabaya through Instagram social media. This study uses qualitative analysis methods and the use of impression management theory, a part of the dramaturgy theory developed by Erving Goffman. The results in this study indicate that the momentum of the Covid-19 pandemic which became the focus and attention of the public at that time, especially in Surabaya, was used by Eri Cahyadi to appear as a good leader and answer the needs of the community, seen in most of the uploads that were not far from everything that related to the Covid 19 pandemic. Collaborative leadership is also shown through Eri's collaboration and synergy with various parties contained in most of the uploads within 100 days of leadership which can be a signal of Eri Cahyadi's collaborative leadership model so that it changes the face of history that was previously rigid. the difference in character with the previous leadership, namely Tri Rismaharini who was highlighted so as to eliminate the figure of Tri Rismaharini with all the controversies that became a magnet for attention, Eri Cahyadi who appeared to bring his own color to the leadership model that was in accordance with his era. The san was conceptualized and used in creating content through Instagram @ericahyadi_, so that followers and the public know Eri Cahyadi's efforts, care and leadership in accordance with the framing that was formed.
