Abstract
Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes), which is a floating aquatic plant. Water hyacinth is also often considered to be a nuisance plant, an eyesore and has no economic value or does not work (Mirawati, 2007). In fact, the use of water hyacinth can produce a type of craft that has economic value, good, decent and can meet the needs of life (Hidayatullah, 2011). This study aims to 1) identify the negative impact of water hyacinth on the environment, 2) determine the magnitude of the added value of the water hyacinth craft, and 3) training on the use of water hyacinth into economic value products. Determination of the location of research carried out deliberately (purposive). The analysis used is descriptive analysis and analysis of biological value added methods. Descriptive analysis is used to answer the first and third objectives, while the analysis of biological value added methods is used to answer the second objective. Research results show that water hyacinth has a negative impact and a positive impact on the environment. Based on the calculation of the added value of water hyacinth handicraft hayami has added value. The training on the use of water hyacinth is done to motivate the community to be able to use water hyacinth into a work including bags, wallets, tissue boxes, mats, food covers that are of economic value and can increase income and are expected to reduce waste in the environment. In addition, the existence of training is also expected to reduce unemployment and poverty. Keywords: Water Hyacinth Crafts, Negative Impact, Value Added
