Abstract
OLIVIA NIBTIA R. REPRESENTATION OF BEAUTY IN FILM "IMPERFECT: CAREER, LOVE & SCALES" IN GENDER STEREPTYPE PERSPECTIVE In Indonesian films, female characters adopt some depictions of the concept of beauty. Through beauty standards constructed by Indonesian culture, making some women look at one eye if it is not in accordance with existing beauty standards. This research focuses on the depiction of the concept of beauty in the film "Imperfect: Career, Love & Scales" (2019). The data in the form of scenes featuring female characters with beauty concepts presented in the film, will then be examined using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis method "3 Signs" consisting of denotation marks, connotation marks and myth signs. The signs and symbols displayed in the scenes represent the concept of beauty and and related to the theory of female gender stereotypes. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive types. The representation of the concept of beauty in the film "Imperfect: Career, Love & Scales" (2019) is very contrary to the standards of beauty that have been constructed by indonesian culture. In the film "Imperfect: Career, Love & Scales" (2019), it shows the beauty of women who are diverse and cannot be boxed, beauty is also owned by all women and not only determined through physical but inner beauty is also decisive. In addition, there are still some depictions of the concept of beauty displayed by some of the female crusts in the film above. Keywords: Film, Female Beauty, Gender Stereotype, Semiotics
