Abstract
This study is motivated by the internet technology development in various fields of human life, including digital fandom activities. Seeing the development of various digital fandom activities along with the development of technology, the writer is interested in conducting an ARMY fandom study and see how new social activities for fans or followers implement on Instagram social media. Thus, the focus of this study is to examine how social activities are carried out by digital fandom through Instagram social media. The method used in this study was a qualitative descriptive study using four data collection techniques, consisting of internet mediated interviews, observation, documentation, and literature study. The results of this study showed that the application of digital fandom social activity is carried out by implementing an online social media movement using humanity theme with the tagline of "ARMY INDONESIA FOR HUMANITY'' which became one manifestation of its human values by organizing fundraising activities in the form of the "ARMY Indonesia Cares Disaster" project for helping natural disasters victims in South Kalimantan, West Sulawesi, and NTT by allocating and distributing funds. Furthermore, in carrying out its social activities, digital fandom had become a social agent whose contribution was extremely large. Started from donating money, spreading information, inviting other fans to donate, and volunteering xii to channel funds. Thus, it proved that the lives of fans not only love their idols but also become social agents who effect good changes and help the Indonesian government's responsibility when one of its regions was caught by a disaster. On the other hand, digital fandom can be said as a social agent that successfully carries out social activities even though the communication process is built only through computer-mediated communication using electronic devices and internet especially Instagram.
