Abstract
Sharks are predators that have an important role for ecosystems in the ocean, because sharks are at the top of the food chain. Sharks in Indonesia are threatened with extinction due to illegal fishing. The fins and meat are hunted and sold at high prices. Wild fishing for sharks has an impact on the balance of the ecosystem. If the predators are reduced, the fish population under the predators will increase and become uncontrollable. This resulted in damage to the population and habitat of other living things. Conservation of sharks needs to be done by the community from an early age. Education about sharks and their various species is carried out through the design of interactive picture books. Children as the next generation can participate in preserving nature in a simple way, namely by loving the environment around them through reading books. It is hoped that this interactive storybook can become a medium for maintaining the existence of sharks so that natural ecosystems are maintained. The process of designing this final project uses a qualitative method through the preparation stages and design creation stages. The data obtained will be analyzed descriptively using the 5W and 1H methods to get conclusions as a reference in finding solutions to existing problems. The analysis of the data resulted in a design keyword that is "Diving the World of Archipelago Sharks". The concept of an interactive illustration book design provides information on an encyclopedia of endangered sharks in Indonesia. Information about sharks is conveyed not too heavy because the purpose of this design is to introduce sharks. The concept of an encyclopedia is combined with a fictional story that makes the reader go on an adventure in the world of sharks. The creative concepts in this book are delivered interactively in the form of flip-flaps, animated barcodes and pop-ups. The design of this book is expected to educate readers about the importance of protecting shark species in Indonesia. Keyword : Conservation, Shark, Children, Interactive books
