Abstract
Therapeutic communication is communication that occurs between health workers and their patients. Therapeutic communication has a considerable influence on patient healing. Through therapeutic communication, the relationship that exists between health workers and patients will be more intimate. Therapeutic communication can also help health workers get more information related to the patient's life. A trusting relationship between health workers and patients will improve the patient's healing process. Based on this, this study aims to determine the application of therapeutic communication between health workers and patients with heart disease at RSUD Dr. Sutomo Surabaya. Where heart disease is a disease with a high mortality rate so that patients will experience excessive levels of anxiety. This study used qualitative research methods. Research data collection was carried out by in-depth interviews and literature study. The results of this study are RSUD Dr. Soetomo has a system to help his patients recover through the application of therapeutic communication. Through therapeutic communication that occurs between health workers and patients with heart disease at RSUD Dr. Soetomo reduced the level of anxiety experienced by patients. With the presence of various approaches taken by health workers, both doctors and nurses, it makes patients feel comfortable so that the goals of therapeutic communication can be achieved.
