Abstract
This research was designed to determine the phytochemical components of the ethanol extract of cinnamon Cinnamomum burmanii B. using GC-MS. GC-MS analysis showed the presence of seven different compounds in ethanol extract of cinnamon from Aceh region. The main phytochemical compounds identified in cinnamon from Aceh were coumarone of 59.77% and from seven compounds identified only five compounds were reported to have biological activity. The ethanol extract of cinnamon from Jambi region indicated the presence of five different bioactive compounds with highest peak area of 28.31% for coumarin, from five compounds identified only three compounds were reported to have biological activity. The ethanol extract of cinnamon from West Sumatera region showed the presence of six different bioactive compounds with highest peak area of 14.97% for 2-propanol and from the six compounds identified were reported to have biological activity. This research confirmed that the existence of different bioactive compounds from each region of origin of cinnamon in Indonesia.
