Abstract
This study is entitled "Performance of Urban Waste Management in Gresik Sub- District City", with the formulation of the problem taken, namely how to evaluate the performance of urban waste management from the point of view of the service provider, namely the sub-district/city government?. The analysis technique used in this study is a qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis technique. The required sample size is calculated using the Slovin formula. The technique used to select respondents is Stratified Random Sampling technique, which is a sampling technique by dividing a heterogeneous population into relatively homogeneous groups called strata. The data used uses primary and secondary data. Based on research results, Gresik District produces 155.6 m3 of waste per day, with 5.1 m3 per day coming from the non-residential sector and 21 villages/wards. That the value of the performance level of waste management in Gresik District is 52% of the average yield of each waste management variable, so that the performance level of waste management in Gresik District is quite good. Performance results are influenced by technical, institutional, financing, community and private aspects as well as laws and regulations. Factors affecting the performance of waste management include transportation operations that are not optimal as a whole, the number of personnel and infrastructure is still limited, the community does not fully support waste management and there is still a lack of enforcement against violations of waste regulations. The author's suggestion is that it is necessary to increase the effectiveness of waste management by employing more people, building more infrastructure and waste management facilities, and expanding the service area to cover all villages and sub- districts. As well as increasing knowledge and awareness of waste management for the community to actively participate in waste management activities.
