Abstract
During this Covid-19 pandemic, the learning process is carried out online, including autistic students. Because autistic students have various obstacles, so teachers must know the abilities of each student and prepare appropriate communication strategies so that the material to be delivered in the learning process can be well received. This study focuses on the communication strategy used by teachers in the learning process of autistic students during the Covid-19 pandemic at the Galuh Handayani Inclusive School in Surabaya. The theory used in this study is a communication strategy according to Effendy. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. This research was conducted on teachers, parents and assistants of autistic students, and autistic students at the inclusive school of Galuh Handayani Surabaya. With data collection techniques using in-depth interviews. The results of this study indicate that the communication strategy used by the teacher in the online learning process with autistic students is by identifying the abilities of autistic students, simplifying learning materials, using various learning methods such as: 1) redundancy method, 2) lecture method, 3) demonstration method. , 4) persuasive methods, learning communication media using visual media such as printed images and audio visuals such as learning animation videos. With the communication strategy carried out, autistic students will find it easier to receive learning material because the teacher has adjusted the content of the material and the delivery process.
