Abstract

Film as a representation of the social reality. One of them is the reality of patriarchal culture that affects survivors of sexual violence. The patriarchal system causes women as survivors of sexual violence to experience discrimination. In this study, researchers wanted to know the representation of sexual assault survivors in Photocopier. Researchers used Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis method to dissect markers and signposts based on film elements that contain the Character of Suryani as a survivor of sexual violence with a patriarchal concept. The result of this study is that survivors of sexual violence in Photocopier are portrayed as subordinate groups. This can be seen from several scenes that show the Character of Suryani who has no power, does not win, is forced, oppressed, and suffers. The myths contained in this film are victim blaming and mythological stories of medusa. The findings refer to markers and signifiers that then show the concept of patriarchal ideology.
