Abstract

This research aims to describe the phenomenology of the consumption of traditional herbal medicine in Surabaya towards gender discourse. This is a qualitative-phenomenological study. Subjects were defined based on literature review that resulted six person participated in this study. The data were collected by in-depth interviews, to discover the tough journey and the deciding whether or not they would like to consuming traditional herbal medicine. The results of this study indicate that The majority of traditional herbal medicine consumption is in women, this is influenced by: (1) encouragement from parental factors (2) wanting to improve household harmony (3) because they feel the benefits directly.
