Abstract

This research is motivated by the emergence of a pregnancy-out-ofmarriage pregnancy clarification video uploaded by Younglex in his YouTube account. In this video explains the clarification of getting pregnant outside of marriage through the concept of Q n A (question and answer). Pros and cons often arise in this problem. Many audiences questioned Younglex's attitude in the video. In this research, it focuses on how the public receives messages from a media text, namely video clarification of pregnancy outside of marriage. The public can interpret the text he received and is not always in line with the meaning of the text creator. Therefore this study tries to find out how the acceptance of Surabaya teenagers towards the video on pregnancy clarification outside of marriage which was uploaded on October 27, 2019. This research uses a qualitative research method with a reception analysis of Stuart Hall's encoding-decoding theory. This method sees the message creator as creating a message with a certain meaning that is expected to be accepted by the public. However, the audience itself can also interpret the text in accordance with the field of experience and the frame of reference respectively. The results showed that there were differences in reception between one informant and another informant. Audiences negotiate based on their knowledge and experience. Surabaya's teenage reception on the pregnancy clarification video out of wedlock is more influenced by environmental, family, and educational factors of each informant. Based on the results of the study, the researcher concluded that the aspects presented in this study did not fully agree. There are interpretations of incidents of pregnancy outside of marriage, meaning of postpregnancy outside marriage, meaning of video clarification of pregnancy outside marriage and the influence of influencers. Meaning informants move by themselves from one position to another. This interpretation comes from knowledge, experience gained from the everyday environment.
