Abstract

Radio is one of the mass media that is closely related to the needs of the community that can provide various kinds of information, entertainment, and education. On the radio, it is very important to know how to communicate with listeners, especially young people or millennial generation, so several radio stations have their respective strategies in serving. Hard Rock FM Radio 89.5 MHz Surabaya is a radio that focuses on lifestyle and entertainment, but Hard Rock FM Radio Surabaya also has one interesting program that is the Good Morning Hard Rockers Show program. The Good Morning Hard Rockers Show program is a program that consists of four event segments that are packed with interesting, informative, educative, entertaining, fresh, and still maintaining the cultural and local content of the City of Surabaya. The purpose of this study was conducted to determine the broadcast strategy of the Good Morning Hard Rockers Show program to listening of interest in the millennial generation in Surabaya. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive, so this research only describes in detail and in-depth about the condition portrait of what happens according to what is in the field of study related to broadcasting strategies made and run in the Good Morning Hard Rockers Show program. The results of this study indicate that the broadcast strategy of Good Morning Hard Rockers Show on Hard Rock FM Radio Surabaya is carried out with four stages and functions of the broadcast strategy created and carried out by broadcasting interesting and current information, playing the latest hype songs, and provide fresh topics or themes on the four segments of the program in the Good Morning Hard Rockers Show program so that young listeners or millennial generation in the city of Surabaya can also interact actively with broadcasters of the Good Morning Hard Rockers Show program through social media, namely instagram and twitter, as well as giving comments and opinions via messenger line and whatsapp on topics or themes that are being broadcast by the Good Morning Hard Rockers Show program announcer. Overall broadcasting strategies that have been carried out by producers, production teams, and broadcasters in the Good Morning Hard Rockers Show program have been heard by more than 80% of listeners, especially young people and adults or millennials in the city of Surabaya.
