Abstract
The preliminary design of a Monobasic Potassium Phosphate (MKP) plant from potassium hydroxide and phosphoric acid using a neutralization process is proposed with a production capacity of 36,000 tons/year. The plant is designed to meet the increasing demand for MKP in Indonesia and support export opportunities in Southeast Asia. The plant is planned to operate continuously for 330 days per year and is located in Cilegon, Banten, considering the availability of raw materials, utilities, and product distribution. The main reaction between KOH and H₃PO₄ produces KH₂PO₄ and water with a conversion of 99.8%. The economic analysis indicates a Total Production Cost of Rp 1,452,867,424,828 per year, with an Internal Rate of Return of 19.14%, Pay Back Period of 2 years and 5 months, and Break Even Point of 35.83%. Based on the technical and economic considerations, the proposed Monobasic Potassium Phosphate plant is considered feasible for establishment.
