Abstract

This study investigates the synthesis and characterization of magnetic Fe3O4/zeolite composites via ultrasonic-assisted co-precipitation for the adsorption of methylene blue (MB) dye. Natural zeolite was activated with NaOH solution and impregnated with magnetite under various ultrasonic temperatures and times. The optimal synthesis condition achieved a maximum MB removal efficiency of 99.92% (reducing concentration from 30 ppm to 0.0234 ppm at pH 9 in 1 hour). Structural characterization confirmed successful magnetite impregnation, showing characteristic Fe-O (551.64 cm⁻¹) and Fe-O-Si (1438.90 cm⁻¹) FTIR bands, XRD magnetite peaks 2-theta = 35.85 and 63.01, an elemental iron content of 37.76 wt% via SEM-EDX, and a BET specific surface area of 259.79 m²/g. The resulting composite offers exceptional dye removal capability combined with rapid magnetic separation.
