Abstract
The door to door service process at PT XYZ still involves various forms of waste that make operational activities less efficient, such as time spent searching for transportation, storage, transfers, waiting time, overproduction, excessive processes, and defects. This study aims to identify the waste occurring in the service process and propose improvements using the 5 Whys approach to enhance the operational efficiency of the door-to-door service. The methods used include Big Picture Mapping, Value Stream Analysis Tools (VALSAT), and Process Activity Mapping (PAM) to identify waste and its root causes; improvement proposals were then formulated through Future Big Picture Mapping based on the 5 Whys principle. The results of the study indicate that the most dominant form of waste is “Waiting,” while improvement proposals—such as establishing fixed waiting times for goods to be ready at the origin warehouse and streamlining certain activities can enhance the efficiency of the door-to-door service process. This is evidenced by an increase in the percentage of Value-Added (VA) activities from 19% to 25.5%, a decrease in Necessary Non-Value-Added (NNVA) activities from 39,38% to 36.6%, and an increase in Process Cycle Efficiency (PCE) from 19% to 25%, thereby making the process more effective and efficient.
