Abstract
Pre-tensioned concrete is an effective structural system to overcome span limitations in conventional reinforced concrete, especially in multi-story buildings that require column-free spaces and good deflection control. The Tower 3 building of the Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS), which consists of 13 floors, underwent a change in function on the 12th and 13th floors to become an auditorium space with a span of 18.6 m, necessitating a long span without a central column. This research aims to modify the building's structural design by applying post-tensioned prestressed concrete beams and evaluating their structural performance against seismic loads. The results of this final project in the design of post-tensioned beams with a span of 18.6 m yielded dimensions of 70/100 cm, consisting of 1 tendon with 20 strands for the roof floor beam and the 13th-floor beam with the same dimensions consisting of 1 tendon with 25 strands. The evaluation of the relationship between the prestressed beam and other structural elements shows safe performance and meets the planning permission limits, as evidenced by the nominal shear capacity of the Beam-Column Connection (BCC) of 8,485,281.37 N > 5,298,527 N in the X and Y directions. Based on the prestressed beam planning results, the percentage of prestress loss is less than 20% for the post-tensioning method, which is 19.464% for the beam on the 13th floor and 18.641% for the beam on the roof floor. The performance level obtained was 0.003 in the X and Y directions, categorizing the structure as Immediate Occupancy (IO) with a ductility of 4.33 in the X direction and 4.77 in the Y direction, thus the building structure falls into the partial ductility category.
