Abstract
The phenomenon of raising the One piece flag prior to the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia attracted public attention because it was used as a symbol to express criticism on social media. This study aims to analyze the construction of discourse through the practice of symbolic resistance in One piece flag-raising content on TikTok using Rodney H. Jones' Digital Discourse Analysis. This study employed a qualitative approach by analyzing nine TikTok videos selected through purposive sampling based on the dimensions of text, context, interaction and action, and ideology and power. The findings reveal that the discourse constructed in the content centers on public concerns regarding state governance, including the crisis of justice, weak law enforcement, and restrictions on freedom of expression. The discourse is constructed through symbolic resistance by replacing the Indonesian national flag with the One piece flag as a form of hidden resistance to express criticism without direct confrontation. This study concludes that TikTok functions as a discursive space that enables the construction and dissemination of discourse through popular culture symbols.
